Unleashing the Beast: Upgrading Your Mahindra Scorpio-N for Adventure! Hey Scorpio Nation!
Just picked up my brand new Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8L AT, and I'm already itching to personalize it for some off-road adventures. This beast is practically begging for some upgrades! But with so many options out there, I figured I'd tap into the collective wisdom of this forum before diving in.
Current Setup:
Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8L AT (Base model)
Loving the stock capabilities, but looking to enhance off-road performance and functionality.
Desired Upgrades:
Off-Road Essentials:
Underbody Protection: Skid plates and rock sliders seem like a must-have for protecting the undercarriage on rocky trails. Any recommendations on brands or specific types for the Scorpio-N?
Suspension Upgrade: Maybe a slightly lifted suspension for better ground clearance and handling on uneven terrain. Has anyone here tackled a suspension upgrade on their Scorpio-N? What are the pros and cons to consider?
You can also try this for Enhanced Capability:
Winch Installation: Thinking about adding a winch for those "just in case" moments. Any advice on winch selection and reputable installers for the Scorpio-N?
All-Terrain Tires: The stock tires might not be ideal for off-road adventures. What are some good all-terrain tire options for the Scorpio-N that balance performance with road comfort? 😉
@ajay-kumar could you please suggest some good off-road tyres for the new Scorpio N? 😎
The stock tires that come with the Scorpio-N are better suited for on-road driving. For off-road adventures, All-Terrain (AT) tires are the way to go. They offer a good balance between off-road capability and on-road comfort, making them a versatile choice for the Scorpio-N.
Here are some popular AT tire options available in India that balance performance and comfort for your Scorpio-N, considering both budget and features:
Budget-Friendly Options (Rs. 10,000 - Rs. 15,000 per tire):
- MRF Wanderer AT: A well-known Indian brand, the Wanderer AT offers good off-road traction and durability at a competitive price point.
- CEAT SecuraDrive SUV: Another popular Indian option, the SecuraDrive SUV is known for its balanced performance and decent off-road capabilities.
Mid-Range Options (Rs. 15,000 - Rs. 20,000 per tire):
- Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015: A global brand with a reputation for quality, the Geolandar A/T G015 offers excellent off-road traction and all-weather performance.
- Michelin LTX Force: Michelin is another trusted brand, and the LTX Force provides a good balance between off-road capability and on-road comfort with a focus on long tread life.
Premium Options (Rs. 20,000 and above per tire): 😎 😋
Bridgestone Dueler A/T 697: A high-performance option, the Dueler A/T 697 offers superior off-road traction and durability for serious adventures.
BFGoodrich KO2 All-Terrain: A legendary off-road tire brand, the KO2 provides unmatched off-road capability, but might sacrifice some on-road comfort.
@ravianand0397gmail-com looks like our brothers have already answered the question and there is not much left to say now 🤣
but i would like to flaunt my knowledge here cause, why not? 😎 🤣 😆
Additional factors to consider: 😏
- Size: Make sure to choose the correct tire size for your Scorpio-N variant. You can find the recommended size in your owner's manual or on the door placard.
- Speed Rating: AT tires typically have lower speed ratings than highway tires. Ensure the speed rating of the tire you choose is compatible with your driving habits.
- Noise Level: Some AT tires can be noisier than others on the road. Read reviews and consider noise levels if a quiet ride is important to you.
@gearheadguru you should not go for CEAT as i have had bad experience with CEAT tyres not once but multiple times, you can trust MRF. It's my personal preference btw 😶
@ajay-kumar exactly, one should always consider these cons of installing off road tyres in their cars, you should only go for them if you really need them otherwise stock tyres work fine
here is my take btw 🤣 😀 🤫
While AT tires are a great choice for most off-road enthusiasts, there are a couple of other options to consider depending on the type of off-roading you plan to do:
- Mud-Terrain (MT) Tires: For extreme off-road conditions and mud terrains, MT tires offer the most aggressive grip, but they tend to be very noisy and wear out faster on paved roads.
- Highway Terrain (HT) Tires: If your off-road adventures are occasional and you prioritize on-road comfort and fuel efficiency, you might consider sticking with HT tires and upgrading to a more aggressive tread pattern when needed.
